Saira Shah is a children’s writer from Lancashire. With a Master’s in Education, Saira has been a primary school teacher for over ten years. In 2022, Saira took a career break and focused on pursuing her passion for writing. Since then, she won the WriteMentor Novel and Picture Book Awards 2023 and was runner up for the Golden Egg Award for Picture Books 2023.
Saira’s debut picture book will be published in 2025. She is currently developing more picture book texts and working on a longer chapter book novel (which won the Ink Academy Twitter pitch competition).
Through her writing, Saira wants to encourage children to read for pleasure and support the existing efforts in bringing diverse representation to children’s books.
