Author

Melanie Ramdarshan Bold is Professor of Youth Literature and Culture at the University of Glasgow, where she researches how young people read, write, and tell their stories. She is passionate about helping young people – especially those from underrepresented backgrounds- use reading and writing as tools for identity, creativity, social change, and exploring justice. Melanie has written five books and runs hands-on workshops in schools, libraries, and festivals, encouraging young writers to be bold, playful, and unapologetically themselves. She also works with organisations like CLPE, BookTrust, National Literacy Trust, and The Reading Agency to make children’s publishing more inclusive and inspiring. Whether in the classroom, at a festival, or folding a zine, her work centres on one belief: every young person has a story worth telling.
