Michelle is a cultural and intellectual historian at Magdalen College, Oxford, where she teaches and writes about the history of science and religion. Her current research explores the history of astrology and divination, and she is working on two books: one on the decline of astrology in early modern England, and the other on the role of astrologers and diviners in the long history of forecasting.
She is co-editor (with David Zeitlyn) of Divination, Oracles & Omens (Bodleian Library Press), and one of the authors of A History of Astrology, Divination and Prophecy (forthcoming with DK). She also writes for History Today and The Conversation. ‘Oracles, Omens & Answers’, a major exhibition she curated with David Zeitlyn, is running at the Bodleian Library in Oxford until 27 April and is free and open to all. She was also previously curator of ‘Plague! at Magdalen: Epidemics and College Life’.
