Denis Healey CH MBE was born in 1917. After serving in the army during the war, he became Labour MP for South-East Leeds in 1952 and has been for long periods Defence Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer and a leading light in the Labour Party and Shadow Cabinet. In June 1992 he entered the House of Lords as Baron Healey of Riddlesden, where he had lived as a boy. Denis Healey died in 2015.
