Claire Ackroyd writes domestic thrillers, centred around complicated family dynamics and dark secrets, which often come to the fore in beautiful, isolated settings. Her first novel, THE SURFACING, was shortlisted for the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize and published in June 2025 by Lake Union Publishing. Her second, THE UNFORESEEN, was published in April 2026, and she is currently working on a third novel, in which a posthumous family message sets off a deadly chain of events.
Claire is an economist by background and loves cold-water swimming, travelling, cryptic crosswords and all things book related. She lives in Bedfordshire with her husband and two children.
