Chris Watney

Author

Chris Watney grew up in the Sussex countryside and still remembers the thrill of winning his school’s creative writing cup at the age of ten. Satisfied that this might be the peak of his literary achievements, he went on to build a career in marketing – until a reawakened fascination with science, the universe and the sheer wonder of the world around us drew him back to fiction.

His writing blends curiosity, imagination and adventure with a deep interest in how children make sense of the adult world, especially when the adults don’t have all the answers. He aims to tell stories that educate and empower young readers, but above all, entertain them.

When he’s not writing, Chris enjoys travelling, discovering new music and creating pieces of art that are probably best described as experimental. His first novel, Axel Ström vs. The End of the World, was placed top three in the inaugural Faber Action! Prize. He is currently working on new stories that expand the Axel Ström universe.
