Cathy Faulkner has taught and examined at schools, colleges and universities in Europe and Japan for over twenty years, and currently teaches English for Academic Purposes at Bristol University. She graduated with distinction from Bath Spa University‚Äôs MA in Writing for Young People and holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature. She is currently working towards an MSc in TESOL at the University of St Andrews. Besides writing, she loves musical theatre, playing various large bass instruments, making stained glass windows, and growing her own fruit and vegetables. Her debut novel in verse aimed at middle-graders, Digging for Victory, was published by Firefly Press in May 2023; it was longlisted for the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing 2024, the Branford Boase Award 2024, the UK Literary Association Book Awards 2024 and the North East Book Awards 2024; it was shortlisted for The Week Junior Book Awards 2024 and the Oxfordshire Book Awards 2024; and was winner of the Redhill Academy Trust Children’s Book Award 2024. It also featured in the Sunday Times Best Books for Children. It will be followed by another stand alone novel in verse in 2025.
