Baroness Kidron is a crossbench member of the UK’s House of Lords . She is a global authority on digital regulation, in particular children’s rights, data protection and Artificial Intelligence. She has played a central role in establishing standards for online safety and privacy across the world. Before she entered the Lords in 2012, she was an award-winning film director.
After many years experience as a speaker, Chair and MC at events, Baroness Kidron is comfortable addressing a wide range of audiences in a myriad of settings. During 2025, she addressed the Chilean Parliament in the prescence of the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric and shared a platform with the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis at The Lyceum Project Children in the Age of AI conference in Athens and the UN Assembly in New York. This year has also seen Kidron deliver keynote speeches for the UK Society of Computers and Law and Oxford University’s Generation AI: The Future of Technology and Young People programme, and contribute to the LSE public lecture ‘Can Human Solidarity Survive Social Media?’. She has also chaired private and public meetings with contributions as wide ranging as Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA, Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation, and the highest echelons of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges. Baroness Kidron regularly hosts workshops with children on issues that matter to them. Her contributions to the 5Rights Advisory group comprising of 500 children across the globe, have resulted in long term friendships with young people from all corners of the globe. Over the years she has spoken at US Congress, the Vatican, the EU, UN (Geneva and New York), given several TED Talks and spoken to the AU in Rwanda. She has also conducted many on stage interviews with creators, from artists Sir Steve McQueen and Sir Antony Gormley to ex-Guardian Editor-in-Chief, now Prospect Editor Alan Rusbridger.
She is comfortable speaking on a range of issues, that include:

Baroness Kidron is the founder and President of the 5Rights Foundation, a Visiting Professor of Practice at the London School of Economics, where she chairs the Digital Futures for Children research centre, and a Commissioner on the UN Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development. She holds several roles at the University of Oxford, including as an advisor to the Institute for Ethics in AI, as a Fellow at Jesus College, and as a Visiting Fellow to the Department of Computer Science. Until 2024, she was an expert advisor to the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Board on Artificial Intelligence.
While still a director, she co-founded the charity Filmclub (now Into Film) in 2006, and was awarded an OBE for services to drama in 2012 Her popular TedTalk The Shared Wonder of Film tells the story of how film can be an inspiration for children’s education. Her book USERS, an exploration of the power and influence of Big Tech in modern democracies, was published by WH Allen in 2026.
