We’re delighted to be kicking off our first-ever Threads pitch party! This is a unique opportunity for un-agented writers to pitch their unpublished novels directly to Silvia Molteni, the Head of our Children’s & YA department, and a chance for us to request three chapters and a synopsis from the authors whose pitches we like.
Our theme for this pitch event will be YA Thrillers!
Silvia is currently on the lookout for a high-concept YA thriller set in a claustrophobic small-town or driven by a ticking clock. A plus if it blends razor-sharp psychological suspense with a compelling, voice-led narrative and evocative prose. Think A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder meets We Were Liars.
How does it work?
From 9am BST on Monday the 6th to 5pm BST on Friday the 10th of July, comment your pitch below our announcecment on Threads in 50-75 words, with the hashtag #PitchtoPFD—moodboards encouraged, but not essential!
Who can take part?
This event is aimed at unagented authors only (though we’re open to indie or self-published authors). Please note that we can only consider authors with a full manuscript in the Young Adult age range.
Can I participate if I don’t live in the UK?
Yes! We’re open to pitches from anywhere in the world, as long as they’re for manuscripts written in English and submitted within the pitching window.
What happens once I’ve submitted my pitch?
If we “like” your pitch, please send the first 3 chapters and a synopsis to smolteni@pfd.co.uk with #PitchtoPFD in the subject line.
The winning pitch will be announced a week after pitching closes, and the author will win a 30-minute online consultation with Silvia Molteni.
