Rajeshwari Dutt

Dr. Rajeshwari Dutt is an Associate Professor of History at the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (India) specializing in imperial and global history. She has published books and journal articles with Cambridge University Press, Oklahoma University Press, Duke University Press and Routledge. She serves on the editorial boards of Itinerario (CUP), The Americas (CUP) and Global Historical Fictions (Brill) besides being a network editor for the H-LatAm network. She is a recipient of the Transnational Studies Association Palgrave-MacMillan Research Award and is a former fellow at the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering, and Technology. She is an alum of Curtis Brown Creative.

She came to fiction because she believes it to be a powerful tool to challenge dominant narratives of history. She is excited to bring history to a broad audience through both nonfiction and fiction. On the nonfiction side, she is writing a book on the Nicaragua Canal and on the fiction side, she is currently drafting a historical novel set in 17th century India. She lives with her husband and daughter in the scenic foothills of the Himalayas.
