Bio- Mim Skinner is a writer and women’s support worker, working in communities in the North East. She co-founded REFUSE, a social enterprise which, each week, redistributes over a tonne of food that would otherwise go to waste. She also runs the women’s project for Handcrafted, providing at-risk women with housing as well as mental health and addiction support through creativity. Her debut book Jailbirds, a collection of stories about working in a women’s prison, was published in May 2019 (Seven Dials, Orion). It was optioned by BBC Studios, with Mim as associate producer, and – along with her campaign work – it won her a place on The Elle List, 50 Game Changers 2019. She has written in The Guardian, The i Paper, The Huffington Post and The Sunday Times.
