Dave Grimstead

Dave has worked extensively in the field of international and serious organised crime with the UK National Crime Squad (now NCA). He has utilised his expertise in covert operations, leading successful investigations to tackle trafficking of drugs and people.

Dave enjoyed a distinguished policing career as a Detective Inspector, leading and managing complex investigations from kidnap and extortion to child homicide. He developed as a specialist investigator of domestic and child homicides, working with leading experts to develop internationally recognised, cutting-edge investigations. As a Senior Investigating Officer, he managed high risk missing person cases and conducted reviews in relation to long-term missing people. After over 40 years of service, he retired from the police in 2012.

In 2019, he founded Locate International, a charity that helps families of unsolved missing persons cases find their loved ones. Locate draws on a pool of several hundred volunteer investigators and partners with universities, law enforcement agencies and police departments as it pursues its pioneering work to tackle cases that might otherwise never be fully investigated or solved.
