Ali Stegert

Ali Stegert

Alison (Ali) Stegert is a children’s book writer, creative community builder, nineteenth-century history buff, and raging empath. Her family finds her soppiness hilarious and snigger openly when she weeps while watching emotive TV commercials. It’s a good writing day when her WIP makes her cry.

Ali is settling into full-time writing after retiring from a rewarding career as a school counsellor. She’s the state director of the Queensland branch of SCBWI Australia East/New Zealand.

Boogie Woogie Bird (2022) is her debut picture book. In October 2021, she won the Chicken House IET 150 Award, sponsored by the Institution of Engineering & Technology, for her middle-grade novel Her Majesty’s Society of Remarkable Young Ladies – which will be published by Chicken House in August 2023.
