Jacqueline Bublitz wins General Fiction Book of the Year

Jacqueline Bublitz has been awarded General Fiction Book of the Year at the Australian Book Industry Awards 2022 for her debut novel Before You Knew My Name, a book about “the damage the powerful can do the powerless.” This award is given to a work of general fiction with mass market appeal which has sold well across the Australian marketplace and created a buzz in the book trade.

Bublitz is a writer, feminist, and arachnophobe who lives between Melbourne, Australia, and her hometown in New Zealand. Her writing explores the grand themes of loss, love, and connection, which she alluded to in her in acceptance speech: “This book has my heart in it, my rage, my frustrations, and my hope too.”
