FRANNIE LANGTON & THE LAST – CHOSEN AS WATERSTONES BOOKS OF THE MONTH

Aug 5, 2019

PFD are delighted to announce that Waterstones has chosen The Confessions of Frannie Langton by Sara Collins to be its Fiction Book of the Month, for the paperback

Waterstones says: One of the year’s most exciting debuts, The Confessions of Frannie Langton draws on the gothic tones of Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea for an enthralling historical mystery. Moving from the plantations of Jamaica to the drawing rooms of 1820’s London, Collins’ novel spins out a darkly hypnotic story of slavery, freedom and of the wonderful and dreadful secrets bodies give up under the cover of darkness. An unforgettable story from a powerful new literary voice.

The Last by Hanna Jameson has also been chosen as Waterstones Thriller of the Month.

Waterstones says: Splicing post-apocalyptic dystopia with fiendishly gripping Agatha Christie-esque whodunit, first-time novelist Hanna Jameson has created a brilliant twist on the conventional thriller. The Last conjures a mood that balances eerie menace with utterly credible characterisation and plotting, resulting in one of the most compulsively readable and original novels of 2019 and a standout bookseller favourite.
