Verity Babbs

Verity Babbs is an art critic, comedian, and presenter from Northampton, based in Southampton. She studied History of Art at the University of Oxford, and founded and hosts ‘Art Laughs’ which brings art-themed comedy events to arts and heritage spaces. Art Laughs has performed at the National Gallery, Royal Museums Greenwich, and Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She hosts Voice FM’s weekly ‘Arts & Culture Show’ and has been shortlisted for the Community Radio Awards’ Newcomer of the Year Award 2023. Her writing has been commissioned by the Guardian, Hyperallergic, Wellcome Collection, DarkLight, and others, and she has worked on presenting projects for Tate, Soho House, and the National Film and Television School. Her ‘1 Sentence Answer’ videos she shares on her popular Instagram page have been shared by BBC Upload and BBC 2, and have built up views in the hundreds of thousands. She is working on her debut non-fiction book.
