Erwin Joyce G. Canlubo is a Filipino writer whose work explores family, silence, and the lines between conformity and agency. They won the inaugural Nero New Writers Prize in 2025 for their short story We Don’t Say I Love You in This House, praised by the judges as powerful and confidently executed.
Originally from the Philippines, Erwin is currently based in Leeds. They will begin an MA in Creative Writing at Brunel University London later this year, supported by the scholarship awarded through the prize. Their writing is shaped by memory, love, and the complicated ways life goes.
