Mukta Das is an anthropologist of food and Research Associate at the SOAS Food Studies Centre in London. Her research explores cultural and historical notions of food, belonging and identity, primarily in China. She also co-hosts a fortnightly podcast, XO Soused, with friend and Michelin star chef Andrew Wong. In the podcast they discuss Chinese culinary history, including recipes and kitchen techniques from the past, to spur creativity for home cooks and professional chefs in the present. Mukta’s writing has appeared in academic anthologies and on professional food blogs and journals.
