Andrew Saunders

Andrew Saunders may be the world’s only history documentarian and commercial fisherman. He earned his sea legs at the age of three aboard Rebecca Jane, the last traditional beach-launched fishing boat in Brighton and Hove, and today fishes from nearby Shoreham Harbour aboard Our Nina. Fishing has shaped both his life and his understanding of the natural world.

Away from the water, Andrew has built a distinguished career directing and producing history documentaries for the BBC, National Geographic, History Channel, CNN and Netflix. His credits include America: The Story of US, introduced by President Barack Obama and the History Channel’s most-watched documentary series; Stonehenge Decoded; Race for the White House; and American Dynasties: The Kennedys.

Andrew’s first book, TALES FROM THE SEA: EPIC HISTORIES AND UNCERTAIN FUTURES IN EIGHT FISH, will be published by Penguin Press.
