Barney Norris has won a Betty Trask Award, given to debut writers under the age of 35, for his first novel Five Rivers Met on a Wooded Plain (Transworld). The judges described Barney’s novel as ‘clever and compassionate… a spectacular book; unusual, sad, poetic, and gorgeously-written’. Barney was also shortlisted for the Best First Novel Prize at the British Book Awards 2017, the Authors Club Best First Novel Award 2017, and the 2017 RSL Ondaatje Prize. His second novel, Turning For Home, will be published by Transworld in January 2017. Very many congratulations to Barney!
